About

I am an Economics teacher in Singapore, teaching ‘A’ Level Economics to doe-eyed seventeen and eighteen year-olds.

The pitfalls of being a teacher, as highlighted by my girlfriend and several of my colleagues, is some form of loss of privacy in your life. Simply put, my name is going to be subjected to a nice (and possibly extensive) google search. The Closet Academic is my pseudonymous persona, the manifestation of this need for privacy, yet along with some wants of self-attribution, some wants of spreading the beauty of Economics to the world – or whoever may simply chance upon this blog.

I consider myself a closet academic – my beliefs rooted in social sciences that seek to explain the human world as it is; yet still as rough as an uncut diamond, I cannot proclaim myself to be knowledgeable enough about the theories outside of my Economics specialization (which is unfortunately not as complete as well).

I hide behind the guise of the internet, writing my little anecdotes of my life, the interesting things that come my way, the little brainy ideas that I once in a while may find flashing across my mind as a bout of inspiration. Yet the world out there is too large, and my world is too small. Do bear with me for things that you may not agree with, for these are but my little worldly thoughts from the enclosed space in my closet.

So thank you, and enjoy.
